Vehicle Wraps

Vehicle Wraps in Lakeside, TX

A wrap on a garaged car and a wrap on a vehicle that lives outside at the lake are the same install and a different lifespan.

Vinyl is a plastic film. Sun degrades it, heat cycles it, and standing water works at the edges. None of that is a reason not to wrap a vehicle that lives outdoors. It is a reason to choose the finish with your eyes open and to look after it properly afterwards, which most shops never tell you.

Finish choice when the vehicle lives outside

Gloss is the most forgiving. It cleans easily, hides water spotting best, and marks show up least.

Satin and matte look excellent and are harder work outdoors. The surface is textured at a microscopic level, which is what kills the shine, and that texture holds contamination that a gloss surface would shed. Mineral-heavy water is exactly the wrong thing to leave drying on matte vinyl.

Carbon fibre is textured for the same reason and behaves similarly.

If the vehicle is parked at a house near the water and washed occasionally, gloss is the sensible pick. If you want matte and know it needs more attention, that is a fair trade. What we will not do is sell you matte and let you find out afterwards.

What we wrap

Full body colour change. The whole vehicle, gloss, satin or matte.

Partial body wraps. Roof, bonnet, mirrors or a single section.

Matte black. The most requested finish we install.

Carbon fibre. Textured vinyl, generally used on accent panels.

Custom stripes and graphics. Single colour through to multi-colour, including business lettering.

Wrap film is removable and blocks UV from reaching the paint underneath, so the factory finish is generally in better shape when the vinyl comes off than it would have been uncovered. The vinyl warranty runs 1 year on hood, roof and trunk and 2 years on doors and sides, and the film itself usually gives 3 to 4 years when it is looked after.

Vehicle Wraps

Trailers, tow vehicles and business graphics

A lot of Lakeside vehicles pull something. Two practical notes.

Graphics on a tow vehicle get read from behind, in traffic, by someone who has maybe four seconds. That argues for large type, high contrast, a phone number and one line saying what you do. Not a service list.

If a vehicle spends time backed down a ramp, the lower rear panels take spray and grit. Vinyl handles that fine, but the edges are where water gets in, so wrapped edges need checking occasionally rather than never. We will show you where to look when you collect it.

Vehicle Wraps

The numbers

Full vinyl wrap, $3,000 to $6,000, driven by vehicle size and how much has to come apart to wrap the edges properly. Partial work is priced per panel, and stripping existing vinyl is quoted after we see how it releases.

If the vehicle lives outdoors on a lake road, Color PPF is worth pricing against it: $6,500 to $11,000 for a full vehicle, but it is pigmented paint protection film, so it takes stone as well as changing colour, and it carries 10 years instead of 1 to 2.

Questions we get from Lakeside

Can I pressure wash a wrapped vehicle?

Carefully, and not at the edges. A pressure washer aimed straight at a wrap seam will lift it. Keep the lance back, keep it off the edges and off any lettering, and never hold it square on to a cut line. Hand washing is better on a wrap than it is on paint.

Against very light surface marks, a little, because the vinyl takes them instead of the paint. It is not paint protection film and it is nowhere near as thick. If your concern is rock chips on a highway commute, that is a film question rather than a wrap question.

Three to four years is realistic on a maintained wrap, and the warranty behind it is 1 year on the horizontal panels and 2 on the vertical ones. Horizontals go first because they take the sun square on. What shortens all of it is a brush car wash, which also voids the warranty, so keep it touchless.
