Vehicle Wraps

Vehicle Wraps in Westover Hills, TX

If a car’s value rests on its paint being original, a wrap is the only way to change how it looks without touching that.

Vinyl sits on top of the factory finish. It comes off. The paint underneath is the paint the car left the factory with, and it has spent the whole time shielded from UV rather than fading in it. A respray, however well done, is a permanent entry on the car’s history that any careful buyer will find.

Reversible by design

This is the argument for wrapping a car you care about, and it runs against how wraps are usually sold.

A wrap is not a cheap paint job. It is a temporary one. That is the feature. Run a colour for a few years, take it off, and you are back to standard with the original finish intact and, in most cases, in better condition than the unwrapped panels because the vinyl blocked UV.

For a car being kept long term, that means you can change how it looks without spending any of its originality. For a car that might be sold, it means the next owner chooses.

Removal matters as much as installation. Vinyl that has been on for several Texas summers needs controlled heat to release without stressing the clear coat, and adhesive residue needs proper removal rather than an aggressive solvent. Book it rather than attempting it.

Accent work rather than full colour change

Most of what we do for cars in this category is not a whole-car colour change.

Roof wraps in gloss black, to break up a light body colour.

Bonnet and mirror caps, often in carbon fibre, as a factory-look accent.

Partial body wraps on a single section.

Custom stripes and graphics, which on a period or performance car can mean recreating an original scheme rather than inventing one.

Matte black, full or partial. The most requested finish we install.

Accent work is reversible in the same way a full wrap is, and it changes the character of a car considerably for a fraction of a full body cost. For reference, a full vinyl wrap is $3,000 to $6,000 depending on the vehicle, and accent panels are quoted individually.

Wrap or film, on a car being preserved

They are not alternatives and it is worth being precise.

Paint protection film is clear, thick, and there to stop physical damage. It preserves paint by absorbing impact.

A wrap is coloured or textured vinyl, thinner, and there to change appearance. It shields paint from UV and light contact but it will not stop a stone. There is a third option that does both: Color PPF, pigmented paint protection film, $6,500 to $11,000 on a full vehicle. It changes colour, takes stone chips, and carries 10 years against the 1 to 2 on vinyl. On a car kept for condition it is usually the honest recommendation.

On a car being kept, some owners run both: film on the high-impact front panels, wrap over the rest for a colour change. That works, and the order matters. Tell us at the quoting stage if both are planned, because it changes how panels are prepared and where the edges land.

Questions we get from Westover Hills

Does wrapping hurt resale?

Not if the paint underneath is original and sound. Buyers who care about originality generally see a removable wrap as neutral or positive, because the factory paint has been shielded. What harms resale is a respray, or a wrap removal done badly enough to mark the clear coat.

Three to four years on a maintained wrap. The warranty is 1 year on horizontal panels, the hood, roof and trunk, and 2 years on the vertical ones, because the horizontals take the sun all day. Brush car washes cut that short and void the warranty with it, so touchless only.

We would correct first. Vinyl conforms closely to the surface, so a defect underneath can telegraph through, and film applied over lifting or chipped paint can pull it further on removal. Correction before wrapping is a small cost against redoing both.

Sometimes closely, rarely exactly. Vinyl comes in fixed ranges rather than mixed to a code, so a match is a matter of finding the nearest film. We will show you samples on the car in daylight before committing rather than working from a swatch book indoors.
